Monrovia MS teacher Veronica (Roni) Hudson has been named the Head Softball Coach at Monrovia HS. Coach Hudson comes to us as a graduate of the University of St. Francis in Ft. Wayne, where she was a 4-year pitcher for the Cougars softball team. She earned a bachelor's degree in Nutrition with a concentration in Health Promotion and minors in psychology, social work and exercise science. While at St. Francis, Coach Hudson was involved in numerous internships and experiences that ultimately led her into the education field. Learning from her college coaches, it also became apparent that she wanted to take those tools and lessons to become a coach and run her own program. She then started to coach in her free time and also give pitching lessons as a more position-specific type of training. Coach Hudson plans to have a callout meeting for HS girls the Week of 10/17 (1st week back from Fall Break) and will have a meeting for girls of all ages interested in softball as we get closer to the spring. From Coach Hudson: "I am excited for the opportunity to lead the Monrovia softball program. I want to give back all of the years of those who mentored/coached me during my softball career, and to the girls here at Monrovia that share the same passion for softball. I plan to develop a competitive program with an emphasis on achievements in education. I look forward to our community support as we gear up towards our 2023 season. Go Bulldogs!"
