Coach Matt Nagel will step into a new role again here at Monrovia HS, this time as the Boys Track & Field Head Coach. He currently serves as the HS Cross country Coach as well. Coach Nagel graduated from Monrovia in 2015, where he played basketball and ran cross country for the Bulldogs. After high school, he went to Lincoln Tech to become a diesel mechanic and has worked at a forklift repair shop for over 5 years. He also made the big decision to return to his alma mater as an assistant coach in both cross country and track & field, and has helped our programs immensely for the past 8 years. Outside of coaching, Coach Nagel enjoys playing basketball and farming. He attributes his love for coaching to learning from a lot of good coaches, including Coach Rod Mann, who he looks up to the most. When asked what he was looking forward to most about being the cross country coach here at Monrovia, he stated that "I wanted to become a head coach at Monrovia because I enjoy helping the students become not only better athletes but better people. Ever since high school I always wanted to come back and be a head coach at Monrovia, but I was just unsure of what sport it would be in."
